Guten tag, meine Freunde, my name is Otto. I know, you must be thinking “but basset hounds originated in France! What is a German gentle-hound doing here?” While I have a German name and some stereotypically refined Germanic manners (loyalty, a quiet demeanor and favoring of orderly environments), I actually came from Utah on one of the hound hauls.
I am 9 years old and I enjoy the more reasonable pace of life that comes with being labeled a “senior hound.” I have also slowed down a little bit as I fully recover from surgery. When I first came to southern California, I wasn’t feeling so good. The BHRSC vet found that I had a parathyroid tumor, so I had to have surgery. It went really well and I have been recovering with a nice foster family.
I am great with families and behave myself on a leash, although I don’t like to walk as much as I used to. I really just want to cuddle all day. Doesn’t that sound like the perfect job description for you and your family – basset cuddlers? I am a very mellow guy and I think this could be a good match for both of us.
Otto is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines and microchipped.
