Save A Life - Foster!

Why Foster?

Fostering is one of the most critical services you can provide a hound. Fosters make up the backbone of the work we do and BHRSC could not exist if fosters were not willing to love and house the hounds while we search for their permanent homes.

Our hounds come from shelters or are surrendered by families that can no longer care for them. They are often confused and disoriented by their sudden change of circumstances and even well-run boarding facilities can be noisy, stressful and scary. Boarding facilities lack the personal touch a home and family can offer with ear scratches, long walks and cuddling. Fostering equals more relaxed, happy and healthy hounds.

Opening your home to a hound in need and helping them regain their emotional and physical health is a very rewarding experience which offers each hound a crucial bridge from his past life to his future, forever home. Fostering also allows BHRSC to stretch our budget. Discounted boarding costs $20 a day which can add up to more than $40,000 a year! Each dollar our fosters allow us to save on boarding costs is used to help more hounds.

We always need more foster homes. If you are ready to transform a hound’s life apply now to become a foster. The hounds you foster and BHRSC will be eternally grateful to you.
