Hi basset lovers! My name is Obie and I am a very handsome and loving  5-year old in search of my forever home. I am hoping there is enough love  in your heart and room in your home to add a devoted companion like me! 

I’ve lived with my human dad for my whole life. We even moved out here  from Florida together! But he has some health challenges that have meant  he couldn’t spend much time with me, and now he needs to move to a  specialized home and I won’t be able to accompany him. I’ve had a hard  time with the transition, and can get very anxious and vocal when people  go away and I’m afraid I might have been abandoned. 

In most ways I’m just like any other dog. I enjoy playing in the yard and  going for walks, but generally if someone is around I am a very content  boy. I just like to be around people. My favorite place to be is in your lap  getting snuggles! I would probably do best in home where someone is  around most of the time and can assure me that I’m safe and sound and  loved. 

I hope that my new family can help me out with a couple things. Like many  bassets, I sometimes get a recurring infection in one of my ears, so I’ll  need you to continue my ointment regimen. I get along with other dogs but  I’m not as good at giving cats the space their species seems to prefer, and  if a mini-human touches my ear when it hurts I might tell them about it.  Mostly I will benefit from a stable, structured environment and a family that  can provide constancy and consistency with my training and reassurance.

Obie is neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccines. He has also  had lab work and a veterinary dental cleaning. His adoption fee is $500.
