Max

Max

Hi there basset buddies! My name is Max, and I’m a 4-year old All-American basset boy. My owner’s job transferred him overseas and I can’t go! Apparently there are some countries where dogs are not as welcome as here – can you imagine? Even though my owner hated to part with me, there is this thing called quarantine, which apparently would have involved me being in puppy prison for months! We decided it would be better if I stayed right here in the good old U.S. of A.

I am a friendly snuggle-bug of a guy. I like to be active and going for walks and to the dog park. We have been doing 3 walks a day and several trips a week to the dog park, but it doesn’t have to be that many if your schedule is not quite as open. It would be great if we can still go for walks. I have some hip dysplasia and regular walks help to keep the muscles around my hips strong. My leash manners will impress you too! I know all my commands, but I can be a little “selective about compliance” on some of them, like any good basset. It’s all about proper motivation. Can we still go to the park sometimes too? I love to run and play! But snuggling is my absolute favorite, so if we can do lots of that, I will be a very happy boy.

Everyone tells me how friendly I am, and I agree, but I also know it startles me and I can get a little crabby if I am awakened suddenly. If my forever home has kids, it would be best if they are older so they understand how best to deal with the end of nap-time.

So what do you think? Do you have room in your home and heart for a long-term basset buddy by your side? Call BHRSC and meet me soon!

Max is neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccines. His adoption fee is $350.
