Hi there basset friends! My name is Joey, and I am a 5-year old fellow looking forward to moving in with my forever family! I know that all bassets are special, but I have a special singing voice even for a basset hound. I am in fine fettle now, but that wasn’t the case when I first came to BHRSC – maybe we can meet soon and I can sing you my special song!
I came to BHRSC from a scary place called a shelter. Thankfully, the people there were nice (and smart!) and they knew to call BHRSC. I am such a nice and sweet boy, I’m not really sure why I was left at a shelter, but it might have had something to do with the walnut-sized tumor on my tongue. I was in rough shape when I first came in. It was really painful for me and my mouth was in bad shape, so I was barely eating and I got super-skinny (don’t worry, we are working on that now and I am definitely doing my part!). It turned out the tumor had this mean thing called cancer in it, so BHRSC arranged for it to be removed and my tongue to be reconstructed. Now I am cancer-free and feeling so much better! I love to run and play and get pets and treats!
I saw this movie about a man named Forrest Gump and his friend Lt. Dan. Lt. Dan got magic legs at the end of it, and now I have a magic tongue! I can eat, and give you kisses, and sing the most special of basset songs – the cancer-free, happy hound song! Don’t you want to meet me and hear it? Call BHRSC to meet me for a concert soon!
Joey is neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccines. His adoption fee is $500.
