Hi hi hi everybody!  My name is Huck, and I am a 2 ½ year old basset boy on the hunt for a very special forever home!  I’m a very affectionate guy, and I bet you are just the right folks for me to give all my basset love to!  Oh, and play with!  Can we play?  I love to play!

I was rescued from the pound about a year ago and have lived with my nice family and other dogs since then.  While I am a very friendly and energetic fellow, we also learned that I am something called a “resource guarder.”  This means that I will get protective of what I view as my resources, whether that is food, a dropped item, or even my people.  I really love people, and I just want to take care of you and make sure you are protected!  So sometimes I will try to make sure outsiders know that you have a bodyguard basset.

Anyway, this became a challenge in a home with small children and frequent visitors, so we decided maybe it is better if I can find a forever home that can work with me.  I’m told it’s very workable, and it certainly doesn’t mean I have any less love to give you!  Maybe even more!  I have a lot of youthful energy too, practically still a puppy!  So we will have lots of time together, but I would do best in a home where someone is home a lot to work with me and to help me get my exercise and burn off my energy.
