Well howdy there little troopers. My name is Duke, and I am just pleased as punch that I’ve been able to amble my way here to the last home of my namesake, John Wayne. I am 2 years old and I came here on the latest hound haul from cowboy country, so you know I am the real deal!
Back in cowboy times, people were told to go West to find their fortunes, and I just know the true fortune of a forever family is waiting here for me. I can’t wait to meet you! It has been a little bit of a distressing time. The family I was living with moved, and I got left behind in the backyard! I thought it was a terrible mistake, but no one ever came back or tried to find me, so I am glad there were rescuers who knew where to help me find my loving forever home.
I am hoping that my forever family is willing to be patient and help me get the hang of being an indoor dog. I’m smart, I’m sure we will be through with my house-training refresher very quickly and then we can focus our energy on playing and cuddling! I am currently undergoing treatment for heartworms, but it is going smoothly and I expect to be clear soon. And speaking of hearts, if there is room in your heart and home for more than one awesome basset, I get along well with Lola, who is also here at BHRSC.
The sooner you come down to BHRSC and meet me, the sooner we can start the rest of our lives together! We will have lots of time since I am such a young boy, but I want to get started right away, don’t you? Call now!
Duke is neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccines. His adoption fee is $350.
