Dory

Dory

Hi basset lovers!  My name is Dory, and I am a sweet 6-year old girl looking for a forever home.  I have had a little bit of a hard time, but I am going to “just keep swimming” until I find my forever family! I know you’re out there in the big ocean somewhere!

I came to SoCal on the big Hound Haul from Texas and Oklahoma earlier this spring.  Before I got to California I was chained up in a backyard for my whole life, so I have really enjoyed learning to be a good indoor dog.  Lucky for me, very quickly I got to move in with a wonderful family and they loved me to pieces.  They even got me through my heartworm treatment. But, I have had a couple challenges recently that led them to make the very hard decision that another home might be better for me.

I am a friendly girl and I like all the normal dog things (walks, snuggling, neck and ear rubs, going to the lake or park…).  But I get anxious when my family leaves, so I would dig under, around, through, and over things to try to go find them!  Due to some rules where my family lives, they weren’t allowed to make the modifications to the fence that would make it harder for me to escape.  We think a home with more solid walls or fences would be best if I’m going to have access outside unsupervised.

I like other dogs, but because I am pretty mellow myself, I prefer them to be on the less energetic side.  Sometimes I will let them know if they are too pushy. So it is probably best if any fur siblings are low-key like me.

My rescuers say I am a wonderful, very sweet, and loving girl – doesn’t that sound like just the ticket for your family?  Call BHRSC and meet me ASAP!

Dory is spayed, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccines. Her adoption fee is $350.
