Well hello there basset friends!  My name is Chester, and I am a sweet and mellow 12-year old hound sniffing around for my calm and loving retirement home.  I can’t wait to settle in with my forever family – I still have lots of love to give, and I bet a trusty senior gent by your side would do your heart good during these trying times.

I came to BHRSC after being found as a stray and taken to a shelter.  It seems I may have been abandoned due to some medical issues I had.  They were all pretty standard for my age and BHRSC has taken care of me and I am well on my way back to a healthy life of senior relaxation!  I am a very laid-back fellow and I enjoy going with the flow.  I like a leisurely pace of life – long naps and short, leisurely strolls around the neighborhood are a great combination for me.  That way I get to be by your side most of the time, but your neighbors will also get to meet the dapper new gentleman in town!  I’m very good on a leash as long as we are not in a hurry.  I’m afraid we won’t be giving Usain Bolt a run for his money any time soon!

I get along with just about everyone and I like to fit in with my surroundings.  I like other dogs and people, but since I am at a more docile stage of life, it’s probably better if any mini-humans or fur siblings in my new home are mature and sympathetic to my desire to move at my own pace (I’ll get where we’re going eventually, I promise!).  I’ve been through a lot lately, and presently I’m a little fussy about what and how long I take to eat.  But I’m sure you can be understanding as I work to adjust to my new life.
