Hi hi hi everybody!  My name is Buddy and I am a very unique and fun 8-month old!  Unique because I am part basset hound and, we think, part Swiss mountain dog (but look at me, that equation equals ALL adorable!).  I am looking for a family to spend my forever with, and I bet that could be you!

I came to California from Oklahoma on the latest Hound Haul.  I don’t remember a lot about my babyhood, but I woke up one day and was in a scary place called a shelter.  I’m not sure why anyone would leave me there, I am a very sweet and friendly boy.  I like all the normal puppy things, like playing and chewing on toys, but I also love to cuddle with people and steal a nap on the couch.  But perhaps all’s well that ends well, because I caught a ride west with BHRSC and now I am here and ready to be part of your family!

I am doing well with my training program—I am 95% house-trained!  The only thing we are finishing up that you may need to help me out with is getting through the night.  Crate-training is helping, but that last little bit of reinforcement at your house will seal the deal, I’m sure.  I am also learning how to be a gentleman on a leash, and I could be a great walking or hiking partner.  Mountains are in my blood, after all!

I get along with other dogs and am learning my mealtime manners as well.  As a youth, I get so excited about mealtime that sometimes I would barge in on other dogs.  But we are working on that.  I have made a lot of progress and I think if we keep up those patterns at your house, I will soon be ready to dine with the Queen!
