Hi everybody!  My name is Barney, and I am a very enthusiastic 8-year old basset boy!  I am positive that when we meet, it will be just like that song that the big purple dinosaur sings:  I will love you, and you will love me!

After all, what’s not to love about a super-playful guy who loves people and other dogs?  I have more energy than you might expect for someone my age, even though I actually look a little bit older than my years.  It appears I have been wandering the mean streets of Irvine for a while, so I had to toughen up.  I have some calluses that make it look like I have probably been sleeping on concrete for a while.  But they will go away fast in your house, where I know there is a soft bed waiting!

I know there is lots of play time and affection waiting for me too, and I can’t wait to return it!  I just love being around people and showing them how much I like them.  I like to go for walks too – so much to see and sniff!  I can be a little strong on a leash though, so if there are any senior citizens in my new family, it might be best if they’re not the ones to walk me.  But I will love them just like everyone else!  Especially if they help me to gain some of the weight I need to put back on!
