Hounds in new environment will take time to get used to new situations and routines. It is important to provide:

    • Quiet place away from other pets and family until hound gets comfortable
    • Crates can be used as a safe zone, but shound never be used as punishment
    • Allow hound to explore house at his/her own pace

    Next steps in the process:

    • Home visit is reviewed by the Adoption Coordinator, usually within 3 days
    • Applicant will have the opportunity to meet the dog they're interested in adoption two times. This allows the applicant to:

      • Make sure the hound is a good fit for the family and the family is a good fit for the hound.
